In the just past 2017, Qingdao Airport maintained a steady growth in passenger throughput, aircraft movement and cargo traffic, according to report from Qingdao Airport Authority. In 2017, the airport handled 178,800 aircraft movements and 23.21 million passenger throughput, up 6.5% and 13.2% year-on-year respectively. Among them, the intercontinental route operation increased rapidly. The airport also handled 96.961 million tonnes of cargo and mail, up 92.3% than the same period of the previous year.
Qingdao Airport opened four intercontinental routes in 2017, further intensifying the airline network coverage of the world. By now, Qingdao Airport has direct flights to Frankfurt, Moscow, Sydney, San Francisco, Melbourne, Vancouver, London and Los Angeles.
In last year, Qingdao Airport introduced Bassaka Air and Vietnam Airlines to develop transfer products of domestic cities, Japan, ROK and Southeast Asia transferring to intercontinental routes via Qingdao. The flights to major domestic Belt and Road cities like Chongqing, Xi’an and Kunming also increased 9.6% in last year.
